MP News: Now petrol will not be available at pumps in Indore without helmet

MP News: Now petrol will not be available at pumps in Indore without helmet. In Indore, from August 1, drivers will not be able to fill petrol from the pumps without wearing helmets. Collector Ashish Singh has issued orders for this. There will be exemption in medical conditions. If the employees at petrol pumps give petrol to drivers not wearing helmets, then the pumps have been warned of cancelling the license. This order will come into effect from August 1.

Six years ago also in Indore, the then collector P. Narhari had issued such an order. The strictness continued for a few days, but later petrol started being given from the pumps without helmets.

On Tuesday in Indore, the Chairman of the Supreme Court Road Safety Committee, Abhay Manohar Sapre, had given instructions that helmets should be made compulsory for government employees and students. On the second day of this meeting, the collector issued orders not to fill petrol without helmets.

The collector’s orders have reached all the petrol pumps in the city. Apart from this, after holding a meeting with the pump operators, the collector has said that to prevent road accidents in the city, drivers should have the habit of wearing helmets.

Most road accidents in the state occur in Indore. This has to be reduced. The order issued by the Collector states that this restriction will not be valid in medical related cases. Action will be taken under Section 223 of the Indian Penal Code for not following the order.

Will the rule not apply to them?

This rule will not apply in medical emergency and emergency situations.

This order will be in effect from August 1 to September 29, 2025.
